TRENDS? Corporate power in governance, and not just at the federal level.
Widening gap between rich and poor at all scales; global to neighborhood. Money elects, whether its democracy or other forms of government. We know who is no longer represented. Scarcity of resources; increasing destruction of the environment. Power struggle over access. Nationalization of private properties, where nationalization has become Halliburtonization. Regulation and limitations of personal liberties. The national boundaries defined by economic interests are gone, the ethnic boundaries are disappearing through massive immigrations and refugee status; religion defines allegiance. While we interact more and globally, we remain fundamentally intolerant. More nations have WMDs and virtually everybody has a gun. The power struggle for resources will be in this environment. Our human capacity is limited, “The Magic Number Seven Plus or Minus Two,” we increasingly search for simple answers in an ever more complex world. Fear and concern for security trumps hope and willingness to risk. Are these not the entrails of a true chicken? ”Be careful how you define the world, it is like that” Erich Heller
