                                                                                       Spirits

My long affair with beer resulted in the Flying Dog Brewery and its litter of ales. It turns out that our microbrewery is perfectly suited to brew  fine distiller's wort that is distilled and aged into Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey. I am happily and deeply immersed into the business of spirits, the plural of spirit: "The principle of conscious life; the vital principle in humans, animating the body or mediating between body and soul." Exactly, and the plural of that is what booze is all about, the adult beverage that so soothes the mind, relaxes the vise of reality and  loosens the tongue.

Ben Franklin noted that, "Beer is evidence that God loves us and wants us to be happy." Evidence too of a gentle God that would let an old man sit quietly in an Irish pub amongst his friends and with a pint.

"If you have a heart like the sea, pick up the wine that reveals what being human is really about."  Rumi
